Dear Harper-Lynn: 2 Years Old

I can't believe another year has passed and you are now TWO YEARS OLD!!!

You started walking on August 10, 2013.  It was such an exciting time.  Unfortunately, it got shadowed by daddy leaving me just three days later.  Our divorce was final on January 27th of this year.

Even though your daddy and I couldn't make our marriage last, I'm thankful that he is there for you.  You see him several days a week and every other weekend.  You are a spitting image of him and you love him dearly!

I'd say right now your favorite person is probably me, though! Yay! You LOVE saying, "Mama," and I LOVE hearing it!!!

We've been living with Grammie and Gramps since the end of August.  It was a tough transition for all of us, but you seemed to really have a hard time with it for several weeks.

By fall, we were settling into a routine, Mother's Morning Out (MMO) two days per week at our church and I was gearing up for surgery.  You were talking so much back then.  You seemed to learn a new word or phrase almost daily.

By your 18-month checkup in December, you were far-exceeding most children your age.  Even your pediatrician was amazed at how well you were talking and interacting with he and his staff.

In February you had tubes put in your ears due to 18 ear infections since three months of age.  I will never know for sure what happened during or after that procedure, but I feel it is to blame for what is currently taking place.

You see, my precious little girl, you are really struggling right now.  You have been diagnosed as language delayed and have been in speech therapy the past several months.  You could once say around a 100 words and phrases and now you say about 10.  It has been heartbreaking to watch this happen to you.

In addition to your language delay, you have started having odd behaviors that really worry me and daddy.  You will be starting occupational therapy next month and will be tested for Autism in September.

I promise you we will get through these issues together! I love you now and forever!
